THEA 201: Cornell Box
This Cornell box is evocative of M. Butterfly, a play by David Henry Hwang based on real-life events and Puccini's Madama Butterfly. The play deals heavily with the concept of gender and its construction, as well as the Western view and festishization of the East. This production, with its gauze and glittery blood, also focuses on the violence or threat of violence throughout the show, all with the backdrop of Communist China and French diplomacy.
